Spring Decor Balls

Have you seen what Alison at House Of Hepworth can do with some jute, yarn, pinto beans and even an old wicker type outdoor mat? Very cool stuff! Well sadly, I can't take full credit for this idea. I saw this awhile ago at another blog. I wish I knew whose it was. so I could give them the proper credit, this is a really cute idea!  It is inexpensive and pretty easy to do!  If I can do it, I promise...you can too!  Today is my very first tutorial  aka "Tuesday Tutorial" so you get to see how I made these!  Here we go!

These are all the supplies you need:
- Laundry clothesline
- 3 sizes of  balls
- Glue gun
- Scissors
Yes, that's all!

Where I got all my supplies:  The Laundry rope I got at the Dollar store.  I so wished they had a yellow one, I actually went to 3 different ones and no yellow!  Bummer!  I wanted different sizes and at the craft stores to get different sizes in Styrofoam can be a little pricey and the dollar store didn't have any ping pong balls or anything I could really use, so I headed to my trusty thrift store (DI). I found Styrofoam in the bigger size, but nothing smaller.  While I was wandering I walked down the Christmas isle...Then a light bulb went off in my head!  Why couldn't I use ornament balls?  So that's what I got.  I chose plastic because I knew I could probably pop that little hanger thing off the top with out destroying the whole thing.  I brought them home.  Went to work ....

First I  put a dab of glue in the center of the ball.  Hold the tip of the rope there until it firms up, otherwise it will just slip right off and not stay centered.

Next, start wrapping the rope around it, try to keep it tight and the rope as close together as you can, so you don't have gaps. Every so often dab a little more glue.

Half way finished this is what it should look like!

When you get to the end, what I did to finish it was continue winding until you can't anymore. Cut the rope press the piece that you cut into the tip, and use your scissor to "push" the end down in. Hold it there until the glue firms up. Then you have some cute Spring Decor Balls!  TOTAL PRICE:  $6.00 with plenty of stuff left over!  SCORE!
I'm thinking that I might go looking for a cute glass vase or bowl to put mine in. The bowl needs a redo and just isn't cutting it! If I find one, I'll be showing it off!

Have a great day! GO...GO make you some Spring Balls!
